About

My name is Laurie and I have owned hunting dogs for my entire adult life. I got my first Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Magnum as a 6 month old rescue in my late 20’s - he was a great hunting and family dog. In 2014, I got introduced to the Hunt Test and Field Trial game along with the more formal side of dog training. I started out running a yellow lab, Doingdogs Jaxx MH WCX, she was the only dog from that kennel to ever earn a MH title, and taught me a whole lot about dog training in the process. In 2016, I went back to a Chessie with Dockcove’s Bloom QAA, GMH, WCX and haven’t looked back.

For the last decade, I’ve been training and breeding high-achieving hunting dogs here in Nova Scotia.

Meet the Dogs

Dockcove’s Bloom QAA, GMH, WCX (Bloom)

Bloom is the beginning of the Workingdog Kennels legacy, she is a fantastic hunter with plenty of drive to play the hunt test and field trial game. Retired in 2024, she is now enjoying life as the resident house dog.

Pine Haven Mathias MH WCX (Mathias)

Joining the Workingdog Crew in 2021from Alberta, Mathias is the resident male in the kennel, he is an outstanding hunter who loves the hunt test and field trial game as well.

Elite Acres’ High Brass Magnum SH WCX (Maggie)

Maggie is the newest member of the WorkingDogs crew, joining us from Ontario in 2023. Another excellent hunter, she has earned her Senior Hunter title and has one pass towards her Master Hunter title. Testing and trialing were put on hold for 2025, while she was bred and produced a littler of 12 puppies.

Puppy Inquiries

Each puppy leaves for their new home with a clean bill of health, having undergone a thorough vet check. They're up to date on all vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, and proudly registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).
